MY ACHIEVEMENTS
My campaign goals from 2012 have all been achieved.
- Increased playgroup, kindergarten and childcare places across our city. I opened Bubup Womindjeka Children's Centre. I am also on the board.
- Two new primary schools will be opened for our community. Along with the purchase of a new community park, community and sporting facilities in the Ferrars Street Primary School. I tirelessly campaigned with constant and sustained advocacy.
- Numerous playground upgrades, new pocket parks, and improved Graham Street skate park and basketball half courts for youth to play.
- The completion of CASPA Care Emerald Hill Residence which caters for an additional 140 aged residents. I am a board member.
- Better walkability and rest places for Seniors throughout the City of Port Phillip.
- The planning of Fishermans Bend with Council focus to improve social infrastructure and ensure this area is liveable and caters for all community needs.
- Strong and consistent advocacy to the Port of Melbourne, Webb Dockto ensure local residents are not impacted by Port changes.
- Planning of 1-7 Waterfront Place. Community consultation for reduced height of building, with no beach and promenade overshadowing
- Further amenity improvements along Todd Road.
- Raised the profile of Port Melbourne to the Cruise ship operators for improved tourism.
- Upgrade of Garden City facilities including parks, Centre Avenue shops and Fishermans Bend Community Hall.
- Transferred Beacon Cove to Port Phillip Council which now has consistent services.
- Increased greenery in streets with more trees planted and watering program.
- Supported Port Melbourne Netball Club and delivered new budget for resurfacing of netball courts at Julier Reserve.
- Rooftop solar panels on Town Hall to significantly reduce costs and carbon emissions.
- Lighting installed along the 109 bike track and better cyclist crossings.
- Improved the perception of Port Melbourne in a St Kilda centric Council.
- Protection of Port Phillip Bay via more permeable footpaths and nature strips to prevent run off into the Bay.
- Upgrade of JL Murphy Reserve with new fences, pavilion, new soccer pitch, plus plans for new playground and upgraded clubhouse.
- Upgrade of North Port Oval with new Pavilion and painted Norm Goss Stand.
- Improved watering and maintenance of 109 tram track
- Stopped the backpacker monopoly of the Sandridge Life Saving Club carpark.
