The Block

I wanted you to be the first to know’ was what The Block producer Julian Cress said to me when they had secured the J Kitchen & Sons Art Deco Building on Ingles St, Port Melbourne. I immediately asked for the Production to showcase what our vision was for Fishermans Bend and to blend the old & the new & showcase modern sustainability features in this 1920’s building, such as 3rd pipe, future provision of recycled water, solar panels & a huge green open space on the roof.

This is a once in a generation opportunity & the significance of Fishermans Bend merits bold, innovative & aspirational targets & standards which set new benchmarks for housing diversity, building design, open space, walkability, sustainability, transport & economic development.

This J Kitchen & Sons building, which became Unilever, and produced iconic brands such as Velvet & Solvol soaps from the 1920’s & candles during the war years.

The Block has transformed this dilapidated & boarded up building into stunning generously sized apartments that helps set the tone for this exciting, emerging precinct.

This is The Blocks 4th development is our great city. The City of Port Phillip.

I am committed to ensuring that Fishermans Bend becomes a world class place to live, work, play & visit.
